As promised, here is the dish from the Sam Moore listening party last night at eat on Sunset:
Aside from both FBLA fishies, the crowd included record people, journos and Chazz Palminteri. You know, the usual suspects (sorry, we couldn’t resist). Also grooving to Sam’s music: The beautiful Zorianna Kit and her producer husband, Bo Zenga, who says the couple eats better when the Entourage crew camps out at their home (their house is the set of Ari Gold’s abode, and, apparently, the show has an excellent Craft Services table). He showed us a cute picture of his kid and then bid us adieu with a warm, “Fuck off, there are gift bags!”
But the man of the hour truly stole the show. Warm and approachable, Moore received fawning hugs and kisses from all the loveliest ladies at the party — including Lou Rawls’ daughter. The fresh, fun album, Sam Moore: Overnight Sensational, is being marketed as a solo project for the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, but it’d be more aptly described as Duets with more funk.
Among the 20-some-odd artists featured on the Randy Jackson-produced record are Bruce Springsteen, Sheila E. and Nikka Costa. When we asked Moore what has taken Nikka so long to get another album out, he made a little bubble motion over his belly. “She’s pregnant,” he whispered.
As we left, bleary-eyed and exhausted, the 70-year-old Sam was still going strong, talking about a possible TV deal to promote the album (instead of an all-out tour) and laughing it up with his adoring fans. Apparently he was right, “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”
