LA Times Wins APME First Amendment Award

The Los Angeles Times beat out The Salt Lake Tribune and The Burlington (Vt.) Free Press for the Associated Press Media Editors First Amendment Sweepstakes Award on Thursday.

The LAT won thanks to their “Grading the Teachers” investigation, which exposed how effective LAUSD teachers were in raising the standardized test scores of their students.

The APME annual conference is currently taking place in Denver, where the First Amendment Sweepstakes Award was presented.
