Bong Soo Kim, a Korea Times employee of more than 20 years, was arrested yesterday for embezzling $140,000 from the paper. A release from the Garden Grove Police Department says that Kim, working as an advertising agent, asked newspaper clients to write advertising checks directly to him instead of the paper. Police searched Kim’s Fullerton home and found documents relating to the crime, but were unable to recover any money. Kim may have spent the money in service of his wife’s troubled business, which the OC Register reports is what likely drove Kim into his embezzlement scheme.
