The long awaited international expansion of the Kobo Touch has finally begun.
Word is spreading on Twitter today that the Tobo’s new 6″ ebook reader is now available in the UK. The British bookseller WHSmiths is now sells the Kobo Touch for £169.99. It offers the same features as in the US market, including 6″ Pearl screen, Neonode IR touchscreen, Wifi, and buying eBooks direct from the Kobo eBookstore.
But that price is rather expensive when compared to the Kindle which launched yesterday. In fact, it’s close to twice the UK price of the K4 (£89). I’m not sure how well it will do in the UK.
I have also heard that Whitcoulls, Kobo’s NZ based retail partner, also announced that it would have the Kobo Touch in stock on 3 October. The retail is supposed to be NZ$179, but I am still looking for confirmation of the date.
