King Launches Shuffle Cats Multiplayer Card Game on Mobile

The multiplayer card game is based on the game of rummy, and it allows users to compete in two-player games as they make their way down Lucky Lane.

King announced the release of Shuffle Cats on iOS and Android. The multiplayer card game is based on the game of rummy, and it allows users to compete in two-player games as they make their way down Lucky Lane.

In each game of Shuffle Cats, each player starts with seven cards, and they will take turns drawing and discarding cards with the goal of creating “melds” that they can play to the game board. A meld can be a set of three cards of the same number, or a run of three or more cards of the same suit that are in numerical order (for instance, the ace, two and three of hearts).

Once melds have been played, both users can continue to play extra cards to the melds, so long as they fit each set or run. Players will earn points as they create melds and play extra cards to the board, and the first player to reach 10 points wins the game.

As users win games, they’ll receive gems, the game’s main currency, which can be spent on entry fees to access matches in the game’s eight Card Clubs on Lucky Lane. The entry fees and gem prizes for winning increase as users move from one Card Club to the next. Users can also play in previous Card Clubs if they’re running low on gems.

In addition, uses will earn experience points as they play, which will allow them to unlock special Lucky Charms over time. Users can bring a single Lucky Charm with them into some games, and these Lucky Charms each have a different effect on games. For instance, one Lucky Charm may make queens and kings worth double the points when they’re played in melds.

Users can win additional Lucky Charms (as well as other prizes) in Walter’s Workshop, a special area that presents users with different challenges to complete. For instance, the Workshop may challenge players to complete a win streak of matches for a chance to win a new Lucky Charm. Walter’s Workshop is only open at specific times.

Finally, users can chat with their opponents while playing by tapping the chat icon and choosing one of the template phrases to send. Users will unlock new designs for their chat bubbles as they level up.

In a statement, Carolin Krenzer, head of studio at King London, commented:

Launching Shuffle Cats is an exciting move for us, especially as it’s our first live multiplayer card game. We’re always looking to broaden and diversify our portfolio and create new, engaging games—Shuffle Cats serves as a perfect example of this. It’s also great news for those of us with a competitive streak, as you can now test your card skills against players from all over the world in real-time and communicate with opponents through the new chat features.

Shuffle Cats is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. The game is also available to play for free on Facebook.
