Kieran Murray Is Named Reuters’ Washington Bureau Chief

He'd been news editor for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Kieran-Murray-profileKieran Murray has been named Washington bureau chief for Reuters. Murray has been with Reuters since 1992, starting out as a stringer in Central America. Fast forward 24 years, a number of regions and promotions later, and Murray is, most recently, news editor for Latin America and the Caribbean.

“I know that experience will serve him well as he arrives in Washington at the start of a new administration and at a time when we are building on our record of success in covering stories from American foreign policy to financial enforcement,” said Kevin Krolicki, regional editor of the Americas, in a note to staff.

Krolicki had been Washington bureau chief before taking on his current role in May. The position had remained unfilled before Murray’s appointment today, with Kevin Drawbaugh serving as acting bureau chief during that time. He’ll stay in that role a few months more, before Murray takes over in January, operating from Reuters’ “gleaming new newsroom” in Washington.
