Now this is how you do social media.
In response to a single tweet from Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess, Kellogg’s created a brand new cereal: Totes Amazeballs. It’s made of Rocky Road cake, Coco Pop Rocks, marshmallows, shortbread and raisins, and there’s only one box in existence.
It’s quite likely that Burgess has finished that delicious sounding box of cereal by now (cake in your cereal!?), but the story of its creation lives on.
As AdWeek reports, Burgess had heard the term “Totes Amazeballs” and thought it “sounded like something from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” He sent a tweet to Kellogg’s saying that he had invented a new cereal, and they got in touch with him… within the hour.
Whoever was on the clock monitoring the Kellogg’s Twitter account (@KelloggsUK) was pinged by Burgess deserves a lifetime supply of Coco Puffs.
The company worked quickly, asking Burgess for his ideal combination of flavors and creating the super-ultra-limited-edition single box of Totes Amazeballs. And since shipping the cereal to Burgess, the blog-o-sphere hasn’t been able to get enough of this sweet, sweet story.
Manchester Evening News reports that Burgess will sample the cereal from his one-and-only box. However, fans living in Manchester might be able to try Totes Amazeballs for themselves – Burgess’ pop-up coffee shop Tim Peaks will be making an appearance during the upcoming Kendal Calling festival, and he will apparently be serving visitors the delicious, cakey cereal.
A Kellogg’s spokesperson explained that the cereal has become so popular, they might even consider mass producing the treat:
“We really try to make the most of Twitter here at Kellogg’s and when we saw the tweet we knew we had to make something special for him. “We only had one box of Totes Amazeballs made which was sent to Tim. However we are now getting inundated with tweets from his fans saying they want it.”
