Wonder how Katie Couric‘s ridiculously overhyped debut fared, ratingswise?
CBS says Couric’s first broadcast “attracted 13.59 million total viewers, finishing number one for the night and easily beating NBC Nightly News (7.76 million viewers) and ABC’s World News (7.58 million viewers) in the process.” The 13.59 million total viewers are the most for the broadcast since Feb. 16, 1998, which occurred the Winter Olympics in Nagano.
It was a boon for the site too. Traffic to the CBSnews.com website increased 62% compared to the previous day, according to Hitwise.
Night two, the broadcast experienced a 25% ratings drop-off:
