STUDY: Kids Try To Access Social Networks Nearly Twice As Much As Porn Sites

Nearly twice as many attempts by kids to circumvent the parental controls of users of Kaspersky Lab’s products were aimed at Facebook and other social networks in May than at pornography sites, the Internet security firm reported.

Nearly twice as many attempts by kids to circumvent the parental controls of users of Kaspersky Lab’s products were aimed at Facebook and other social networks in May than at pornography sites, the Internet security firm reported.

Kaspersky Lab pointed out that the average household has 2.5 desktop or laptop computers, 1.4 smartphones, and 0.7 tablets, giving kids multiple ways to get online.

An analysis of its parental-control data for May found that kids attempted to access the following types of websites:

  • Social networks: 31.26
