John Swansburg Joins The Atlantic

He joins from Slate

The Atlantic snags a new senior editor in John Swansburg, who joins the publication from Slate magazine, where he has been deputy editor, a promotion he received in 2014 at the publication where he has worked for the past decade. We should add an asterisk to that last sentence; Swansburg had briefly left Slate in 2011 for what turned out to be a two-month stint at The New Yorker. Prior to Slate, he had been deputy editor, ideas, at the Boston Globe and started his career as an editorial assistant at The New York Times.
