John Catsimatidis Submits Daily News Bid

If it was more than one dollar, take the deal.

John Catsimatidis, the supermarket mogul, is seriously interested in purchasing The New York Daily News. Catsimatidis not only submitted a bid, he’s hoping for an exclusive negotiating period, which would lock out other competitors.

Fortunately for Catsimatidis (and unfortunately for Daily News owner Mort Zuckerman), The New York Post reports that no one else has made a bid for the paper. Steve Witkoff and Jimmy Finkelstein were said to be interested, but neither has made an offer.

The Daily News, of course, refutes this. A spokesperson said the paper has received “several bids.”
