The c-suite is getting a little more crowded, with CEOs and COOs now rubbing elbows with CTOs (chief talent officers) and CROs (chief risk officers). But, according to a new piece from CNNMoney, another C-level executive title that will start showing up in companies is CSMO, or chief social media officer.
“A CSMO would not only produce content for social media sites, but he or she would also train employees on how to use the platforms,” CNNMoney says. The officer would also educate employees on what is and isn’t appropriate to share.
John Wood, vice chairman and global managing partner of the CEO and board practice at Heidrick & Struggles, an executive search firm, told CNNMoney that he expected these execs will become essential in three to five years–if not sooner.
