Bloomberg Exposes Pair of 'Linsanity' Scammers

New York-based reporters Scott Soshnick and Mason Levinson win this week’s prize for least obvious story angle about breakout New York Knicks star Jeremy Lin.

Their widely picked up Bloomberg News piece, filed yesterday, revealed that not one but two California opportunists have filed preposterous trademark applications for the term “Linsanity.” The first applicant lives in Alhambra, the second in Los Altos. Both filed last week ahead of Lin’s 38-point performance against the Lakers.

Deadspin.com has also been on top of this story, having reported a while back about one of the applicants, who has been running the website Linsanity.com.
