Daily News Colleagues Shocked by Sudden Death of Real Estate Editor

As first reported by Joe Pompeo, it happened without warning over the weekend. After New York Daily News real estate editor/reporter Jason Sheftell failed to show up at a scheduled family gathering, a relative asked a close friend of the journalist to check up on him at his West Village apartment. There, the Sheftell was found unresponsive and later confirmed dead.

In the NYDN obituary penned by Edgar Sandoval and Corky Siemaskzo, the paper’s editor-in-chief explains why this has hit the ranks so hard:

“He had an enthusiasm and a zest for life that was infectious,” Colin Myler said.
