Jam City announced that it has expanded its partnership with Warner Bros. Entertainment, and that it has launched temporary Flintstones-themed content updates in two of its mobile games: Cookie Jam (a match-three puzzle game) and Panda Pop (a bubble shooter). The companies previously partnered to bring Scooby-Doo to Jam City’s mobile games for Halloween in 2016.
During the month of November, players of both Cookie Jam and Panda Pop can complete Flintstones-themed quests and in-game events featuring Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty. While both games have been updated with temporary Flintstones-themed content, Jam City said Cookie Jam is “the main focus.”
In a statement shared with SocialTimes, Josh Yguado, president and chief operating officer of Jam City, explained why Jam City integrates entertainment brands into its products:
Gaming and entertainment are colliding like we’ve never seen. Gaming companies are becoming entertainment brands. And entertainment brands have gotten into gaming these days. We call the trend gamertainment.
Beyond that, though, there are two other, more direct reasons: This is about rewarding current players with something new and special in a game they already love and play a lot. They’re like digital treats, and we’re constantly baking them into our games. And this is also about finding new ones. The idea is that we can use the familiarity of certain brands to introduce players to ones of ours they might not already know—like Cookie Jam or Panda Pop.
