It’s Miller Time for Nat’l Enquirer

Emily Miller’s last column in Politics Daily was on Feb. 1.

So what gives?

Well, the Queen of the National Enquirer has spent the past month pulling for and breaking the story of the supermarket tabloid being accepted into the running for a Pulitzer. She pleaded the case on Politics Daily, opined about it in the TWT, and broke it on HuffPost. But the fact is she’s still with Politics Daily. Just Wednesday morning she posted a radio interview and will resume writing her “Emily’s Post” gossip column.

Asked if Politics Daily was upset that Miller broke the big scoop on HuffPost, editor Carl Cannon said Miller is a contributor and is free to write for other publications.

“She retained an interest in this story that went beyond our interest. I did not begrudge her that interest. So going out and writing out more about it elsewhere didn’t bother me,” Cannon told FishbowlDC. “In that Washington Times piece she did not mention Politics Daily and that was something that caused Melinda [Henneberger] and I to say well, wait a minute. I thought it should have a link to our story. I don’t think that was her doing.”

Miller declined to comment, but said we could look forward to future columns in Politics Daily.
