To us, every week seems like Internet week, so we’re a tad confused by the creation of an actual event of the same name. Overkill much? (Back in March, we even asked why Internet Week and received an unsatisfactory answer.) After spending all day staring at a computer screen, the last thing we want to do is talk about the Web at various happenings throughout the city.
But maybe if there was money involved…
Thanks to Associated Content, there will be for one
lucky talented person. The organization is sponsoring “Call for Content,” a one-day essay contest seeking “NY’s best citizen journalist” that kicks off tomorrow at 9 a.m. AC wants to know what the best thing will be in 2009 the answer is probably not Internet Week ’09.
Judges for the contest include the Huffington Post’s Rachel Sklar (a former Fishie) and Omar Wasow (technology analyst and cofounder of Blackplanet.com).
$5,000 for a single 500-word piece? At $10/word, that’s almost Michael Lewis territory.
