Have you ever wanted to stop seeing a user’s Instagram Story at the top of your feed? Did you know Instagram allows you to “mute” their Story so you’ll no longer see their content while watching other Stories? Specifically, when a user’s Story is muted, the application will no longer automatically play their Story as it moves from one Story to the next.
Follow our guide to mute a user’s Story from your feed.
Note: These screenshots were captured in the Instagram app on iOS.
Step 1: Tap and hold on the user’s profile picture in the Instagram Stories bar at the top of your feed.
Step 2: At the bottom of the screen, tap “Mute [username].” This will move the user’s profile picture to the end of the Stories bar. Going forward, this profile picture won’t have a colorful ring around it when the user has posted new content to their Story, and the user’s Story won’t automatically play when you’re watching other Stories.
To unmute a Story, tap and hold on the user’s profile picture in the Stories bar (it will be near or at the end, depending on how many users you’ve muted), and tap “Unmute [username].”
