There are nine journalism students in all, juniors as well as seniors. And thanks to an Indiana University Bloomington journalism school alumnus who wishes to remain anonymous, the cost of their 2015-16 Media School year has gone down dramatically.
The scholarships follow the official launch of The Media School this time last year. From the announcement:
Students receiving top evaluations from journalism faculty were invited to apply for the scholarship. The nine recipients went through an interview process with the donor and a committee composed of members from IU Foundation and the journalism faculty before officially receiving the award.
“Getting to meet with the donor was an award in itself,” recipient Megan Jula said. “I left the interview thinking that the outcome wouldn’t really matter because I had such an interesting conversation with a successful IU graduate.”
Four of the awarded students hail from Indiana. Others include Gregory Gottfried (pictured), from River Vale, N.J. He’s studying English and Journalism, and has a hand in both the student paper and WIUX campus radio station.
