India Now Has More Than 100 Million Social Network Users (With 30% Active On Twitter) [STUDY]

With more than 1.2 billion people India is the world’s second most-populated country (and its most populous democracy), and 243 million of its citizens – about 19 percent of the nation – now use the internet.

And while mobile is far and away India’s most significant digital audience – there are 886 million active mobile subscriptions throughout the country – social media usage, notably on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter, is growing in popularity.

106 million people in India are active social media users, reports We Are Social, representing about 8 percent of the total population.

Of these, 52 percent are active on Facebook, 35 percent on Google+ and 30 percent on Twitter.
