When most of us think about phone batteries, these thoughts generally focus on how long batteries last during the day. There is, however, another time factor involving phone batteries: Recharging time. Recharging a phone’s battery to a full charge usually takes a couple of hours. This is generally an overnight task that most people don’t think about. But, there are times when a fast charge would be really appreciated. How would you feel about a phone battery that could be fully charged in 10 minutes? This doesn’t exist yet. But, it is a goal of a project by researchers from Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Vorbeck Materials Corp., and Princeton University.
Battery research could lead to shorter recharge time for cell phones (R&D Mag)
