IBM Names New CMO for Watson to Lead Branding for AI and Cloud Computing

Michael Mendenhall's previous stops include Flex, SanDisk and HP

IBM has a new executive in charge of promoting artificial intelligence.

Today, the company named Michael Mendenhall as chief marketing officer of IBM Watson, where he will be in charge of marketing and communications for both the AI brand and the company’s cloud computing platform.

Mendenhall joins IBM from Flex, where he served as CMO for the electronics manufacturer and helped rebrand the company’s 12 different verticals. During his career, he also served as CMO for other companies including SanDisk and HP, along with more than a decade in marketing at Walt Disney Studios and Disney’s Parks and Resorts properties.

IBM is rapidly expanded its business for Watson, growing its advertising, health care and other verticals to help clients and partners benefit from the emerging industry of artificial intelligence.
