The IAB Technology Laboratory has named Dennis Buchheim as its new general manager.
Buchheim replaces Alanna Gombert in the role she held since the middle of 2016. Buchheim, who served as IAB’s svp of data and ad effectiveness since joining the organization last October, also has worked for Yahoo, as vp of product, and at Microsoft, as gm of display monetization before managing the company’s ad exchange and network.
“Dennis has unparalleled expertise in building businesses around the types of groundbreaking products and services that the IAB Tech Lab is developing for the industry,” Randall Rothenberg, president and CEO of IAB, said in a statement. “His direction of the IAB Data Center of Excellence, guiding its work in consumer/device identifiers and data quality, is case in point. He is the ideal candidate to advance the critical Tech Lab initiatives launched by Alanna and to lead the creation of new global technical solutions that will promote a transparent, safe and efficient digital marketing supply chain.”
According to IAB Tech Lab, Gombert resigned to move into the private sector. However, she will continue consulting with the organization during the transition.
In the announcement about its new gm, the organization credited Gombert’s leadership in developing the ads.txt tool for preventing the sale of counterfeit and unauthorized programmatic ad impressions. During Gombert’s tenure, the Tech Lab also released a number of technical standards for mobile, video, podcasts and other formats.
“Since its inception three years ago, the IAB Tech Lab has been at the forefront of building tech standards and guidelines that benefit the entire interactive ecosystem,” Buchheim said in a statement. “Technical solutions will be vital in sustaining the health of the digital marketing landscape, whether focusing on improving user experience or rooting out ad fraud.”
