HP Slate 500 Sold Out, Limited Run, or ???
Engadget noted that the HP Slate 500 (Windows 7 based tablet) was on backorder on the HP shopping site. This was originally attributed to a huge demand and later, in an update to the blog, to a limited run of 5,000 units. And, yes, that is not a typo: Five thousand units.

A current check of the shopping page for the HP Slate 500 Tablet PC does not indicate any shipping delays for the $799 tablet.
I don’t have any plans to buy an HP Slate.
