Here’s an infographic that kids can tell their parents and teachers about before whipping out their iPhone to tweet funny YouTube clips to one another. It wouldn’t be necessarily taking in the findings of the study, which found that students who were ‘heavy’ social media users tended to have higher grades.
Today’s connected students are just the beginning — we’ll soon have feeds for each class. Imagine asking a question about the homework to a real-time Twitter-like feed dedicated to your specific course? That sure would beat trekking into the teacher’s office on your spare time, or worse, never finding the answer at all. It’s interesting to look at services like Yammer, who could theoretically supply this kind of feed technology to schools — if the schools had the money.
