The best holiday party in town was going on at Lucky Strike last night, where the Hotline — divided into teams named after sex-scandal-plagued lawmakers — competed for bowling bragging rights.
Not distracted by the abundance of alcohol and steaks on a stick, “Team Spitzer” took home the evening’s trophy — fending off strong challenges from the Fossella, McGreevey, and Foley squads.
The winning team, appropriately sponsored by the Emperor’s Club, included John Mercurio, Meredith Nettles, Sean Miller, Matthew Gottlieb and Carrie Dindino. Recognition awards also went to Associate Writer Steven Shepard for highest score and to Last Call’s Nora McAlvanah for lowest score (In her defense, bowling balls are really heavy). Senior Writer and Social Chair Maura O’Brien didn’t get a trophy, but she received lots of accolades for planning the event.
After the tournament, the group held their annual gift exchange — passing around mostly political themed presents like a George Bush advent calendar, an inaugural flask and a “Country First” coffee mug.
