Hollywood Walk of Fame Lacking in Minorities

On Tuesday, pop star Shakira landed a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the first Colombian ever to do so. That inspired CNN to do a little number crunching.

What they found is that of all 2,354 stars on the world’s most famous sidewalk, only 5.1% belong to African-Americans, 0.4% to Asians, and 3.4% to Hispanics, including Shakira. That’s pretty low compared to the overall U.S. population, which is about 13% African-American, 5% Asian, and 16% Hispanic.
