Cleveland Clinic President and CEO Dr. Toby Cosgrove on NBC's "Meet the Press" with David Gregory: "I think it's a terrific sign. And as you know, the incubation period is somewhere between eight and 21 days. And people spread the disease most when they're sick, now which is a good thing. And it looks to me like he is now in even a recovery stage or has been able to handle it." Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Center for Disease Control, on CBS's "Face the Nation" with Norah O'Donnell: "I don't think it's in the cards that we would have widespread Ebola in this country because the way it spreads in Africa is really two things. First, in hospitals where there isn't infection control. And second, in burial practices where people are touching the bodies of people who have died from Ebola. So it's not going to spread widely in the U.S. Could we have another person here, could we have a case or two? Not impossible. We say in medicine never say never. But we know how to stop it here. But to really protect ourselves, the single most important thing we can do is stop it at the source in Africa. That's going to protect them and protect us." Peter Piot, MD, co-discoverer of the Ebola virus, on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS" : "Well, this epidemic has been going on for a longer time than any of the other Ebola outbreaks in Africa. And it is affecting three countries, I think and possibilities that the next country could be Cote D'Ivoire, Ivory Coast, which is adjacent to areas in Sierra Leone where there are Ebola cases. So, I suspect that it will go on for quite a while still." Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) on "FOX News Sunday" with Chris Wallace: "I want to make America a more competitive place to invest and innovate. So I want our tax code and our regulations to be competitive in comparison to other countries...I want to reform higher education, so people that have to work full-time and raise a family can go back to school and get a degree that will actually help them make more money than what they're making now...And -- and so you can do that and still be a limited government and free enterprise conservative. And those are the kinds of modern issues we now face. So I've spent all year outlining these things and -- and look forward to continue to do that, hopefully in a Republican majority Senate."
