Helen Rosner Takes On New Role at Eater

From executive editor to editor at large

Here’s what the career menu looks like so far at Vox Media’s Eater for Helen Rosner:

– Longform features editor / 2014 –

– Executive editor / 2015 –

– Editor at large / 2017 –

Or, as she put it on Twitter today, she is now shifting from the perch of “smug editor” to that of “extremely terrified writer.” Ha ha. She is the site’s first-ever editor at large.

“Helen is such a strong voice and such a talented writer,” says Eater editor in chief Amanda Kludt. “It seemed like a mistake for her to spend her day in meetings or working on the nuts and bolts of Eater when she could be writing and researching and editing big stories for us.”

Rosner as executive editor has Eater on a roll. The site just won a pair of New York Emmy Awards for their series Cooking in America and Shokunin. And two James Beard Awards for the articles “I Want Crab. Pure Maryland Crab” by Bill Addison (Dining and Travel category) and “Thrill Ride” by Vince Dixon and Mariya Pilayev (Visual Storytelling).
