Hasidic Newspaper Apologizes for Deleting Hillary Clinton

Earlier today we told you about the Hasidic newspaper, Der Tzitung, deleting Hillary Clinton and Audrey Tomason out of the famous Situation Room photo. Now, the paper has offered up an apology. According to The Washington Post, the photo editor misread White House policy, and mistakenly published the altered version.

And as for the allegations that the paper removed them because they showed women in positions of power, it’s absolute nonsense:

In accord with our religious beliefs, we do not publish photos of women, which in no way relegates them to a lower status… Because of laws of modesty, we are not allowed to publish pictures of women, and we regret if this gives an impression of disparaging to women, which is certainly never our intention.

In other words, if Clinton and Tomason weren’t dressed so sexy, maybe they’d still be in the picture. And even though they were literally deleted, they’re still equal to men.

That sounds about right to us.
