Harry Potter actor Jamie Waylett was sentenced to two years in jail in England for his role in the North London riots last August.
The 22-year-old, who played Vincent Crabbe in six of the Harry Potter films, was found guilty of violent disorder after he was captured on TV during the riots. He was acquitted of intending to destroy or damage property with a fire bomb that he was caught holding.
“You chose to go out on to the streets on what was the third day of the violence. You were pictured on a number of occasions with a bottle full of petrol with a rag as a wick,” Judge Simon Carr told Waylett. “I accept … that you did not throw or have any intention of throwing it, but merely being in possession of it would have been terrifying to anyone who saw you.”
This isn’t Waylett’s first run-in with with the law. In 2009, he was arrested for possessing $2,900 worth of marijuana at his home.
