Harper Lee Dead at 89

A legend is gone.

Harper Lee, the iconic, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of To Kill a Mockingbird and Go Set a Watchman, has died. She was 89 years old.

Mockingbird, which won the Pulitzer for fiction in 1961, was published July 11, 1960. It was an immediate hit and remains so to this day, with more than 30 million copies in print.

The film adaptation of Mockingbird was released in 1962 and was also a critical and commercial success.

AL.com reports that services for Lee have not been announced.
