Music gaming company Harmonix has announced its partnership with Tilting Point to develop and market music-based mobile games. The partnership will see Harmonix developing multiple titles, with the first already in development. Tilting Point, meanwhile, will offer support and input throughout the development and publishing process. This includes support for product management, monetization, data analysis, marketing, user acquisition, PR, customer support and more.
Tilting Point’s role in this partnership will also see the company managing the new games’ live operations and funding. The first game under this partnership is described briefly as a “music-influenced game designed for mobile platforms.”
“We’ve known the guys at Tilting Point for years through EA Partners, and recently we began exploring ideas for games we’d like to work on together,” said Alex Rigopulos, co-founder and chief creative officer of Harmonix, in a statement. “Tilting Point has been instrumental in helping us to hone those ideas and to identify the ones that fit best with the mobile market. We’ve known for a long time that we needed a partner to help us succeed on mobile, and Tilting Point simply has the best offering for developers, providing the tools, talent, and experience to turn our ideas into hit games.”
Tilting Point most recently partnered with Signal Studios for the launch of The Sleeping Prince on iOS devices. The company’s other partners and projects include Leo’s Fortune from 1337 & Senri and Toy Rush from Uber Entertainment. Tilting Point has also formed a partnership with Champs: Battlegrounds company Quark Games. In each partnership, Tilting Point looks to offer support for developers, while the development teams retain their own creative visions.
“Harmonix has been a leader in music games for over a decade now and they are one of the most innovative game creators in this business. From Amplitude to Rock Band to Dance Central and Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved, these guys have proven time and again their ability to create massive hits. There is a huge opportunity on mobile to create the next big hit in music games and Harmonix is ideally suited to take advantage of that opportunity,” added Tom Frisina, executive chairman of Tilting Point.
