Guy Vidra Named CEO of The New Republic

Guy_Vidra_PhotoThe New Republic today named Guy Vidra its first CEO. Vidra comes from Yahoo News where he served as general manager and prior to that was head of business development at The Washington Post. 

“Guy is a highly respected innovator with deep experience who will build on our recent progress in redefining The New Republic for a new time,” said Chris Hughes, the publication’s owner.

Vidra added in a release, “I am eager to develop new products, push into new categories, and experiment with new approaches that will enhance and broaden our reach and deepen our relationship with readers.”

The release notes that Hughes will no longer serve as editor-in-chief of the publication but will remain as publisher and executive chairman.
