Greystripe has inked a deal to provide its 800+ ad-supported mobile games and applications to German MVNO Simyo. This is the first carrier partnership for Greystripe, whose prior distribution deals have been with mobile gaming sites and social networks.
As part of the relationship, Greystripe has developed a Simyo-branded in-game on-device portal that appears at the start of every game and includes links back to the MVNO’s mobile Web site. Simyo will make the games available to its subscribers as well as the rest of the mobile community through www.simyo-handspiele.de.
The in-game portal lets users play a game, then return to Simyo’s mobile Web site to choose other games to download or play.
According to Greystripe, the partnership disproves the notion that all carriers are attached to the for-pay model of mobile content.
