Greta Calls Her 'Friend' Tucker a 'Pig'

FNC's Greta Van Susteren and Daily Caller Editor-in-Chief Tucker Carlson go back a long ways. They've been friends for years, always speaking well of each other on camera and off. But over the weekend Van Susteren went ballistic over the publication's report by Jeff Poor on Mike Tyson's filthy sexual comments on former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. She let Carlson have it with both barrels. The word she used for him? "Pig." She said she couldn't support his sexist ways even if he is a "friend" who often appears on her program. She also questioned the viability of The Daily Caller, suggesting the publication may be in trouble but provided no proof other than a gut feeling. "I really don’t understand my friend Tucker Carlson," Van Susteren wrote on her Gretawire blog Sunday morning. "He owns the website The Daily Caller and it currently has on its front page the most vile story — referring to a sex act with Governor Sarah Palin as a “womb shifter.” It is even the headline. Do you know what that means? Figure it out It is really vile. It is not just smut…this is violence against women." We asked Van Susteren if she'd consider having Carlson on her program for a heart to heart, much like Oprah has done with old friends like Iyanla Vanzant whom she hadn't spoken to in a decade until they reunited on air for a whacked out therapy session of sorts complete with tears. So far, no response. Van Susteren was particularly incensed by The Daily Caller's headline: "Mike Tyson: Sarah Palin met ‘the wombshifter.’" She continued, "I keep asking myself, why would Tucker allow this to be posted on his website? I am suspicous his website is not doing well and this is one quick last breath to create buzz to keep it afloat." Particularly egregious for the Fox News host was the fact that her "friend" Carlson hadn't responded to an email she wrote him asking how he was going to address this matter. She gave him 24 hours and then blasted him personally, mentioning Carlson's wife and daughters. She wondered what female employees at The Daily Caller were feeling right about now. Van Susteren refused to link to the story, saying, "I am not going to help Tucker be a pig." An Editor's note appeared above The Daily Caller story over the weekend. It reads as follows: Editor’s note: Many of the quotes in this story are offensive, indeed repulsive, and not suitable for younger readers or those who are easily shocked. They are also newsworthy. Had Tyson used this language to attack virtually any other person in public life, he’d be vilified on the front page of the New York Times. But you won’t read these quotes in the Times. We believe they deserve public scrutiny and condemnation. Carlson defended the Tyson piece to Politico in a story this morning: “One of the most famous athletes in the world attacks one of the of most famous political figures in the world. That struck us as news. We din’t endorse what Tyson said, we in fact condemned it. I can’t imagine how any fair reader of our story could conclude that we were anything but disgusted by what Tyson said.” Van Susteren continued her vitriol . "Maybe Tucker wants to troll the prison to see what pretty things they have to say about women?" she wrote. "And he can call that news? I am sure he can find some really, really, really famous rapist in prison to get a quote or two about women." Greta has previously called journalists out for not expressing their personal views... In June of this year, Van Susteren became outraged after Politico's Carrie Budoff Brown did not characterize signage on a presidential trip to Iowa that read, "Welcome Chocolate Obama." Van Susteren felt the White House Pool Reporter should have called the man out for being "racist."
