The Republican National Committee released a new Facebook application today that it hopes will engage and mobilize voters on behalf of GOP candidates during the 2012 elections.

The app, called the GOP Social Victory Center, allows voters to perform a range of activities in their local communities — volunteering, making calls to competitive battleground states, accessing RNC news, and finding and creating local events — all through the Facebook platform.

President Barack Obama‘s 2008 campaign for president was considered revolutionary in how it mobilized volunteers online.
