After an avalanche of people tried to sign on to Google+ last week, passing around invitations willy nilly and what not, Google shut down invites. But they’ve temporarily reopened the invite system with the goal of doubling the number of people taking the social network for a test drive.
However, there are warnings.
Anyone caught sending invites to tons of friends may have the invites suspended. And they’ve asked brands to hold off on building a page.
ClickZ reported on Ford’s campaign, and Google execs have responded with a reassurance that what they have in the works will be even better than what’s now available. (SocialTimes wrote about an Israeli marketing firm that used a loophole in the invite system to launch a campaign.)
A video with that request is above.
