Google Nabs 1m for Latitude
Remember all the hoopla about privacy invasion and Google playing Big Brother when it launched its Latitude mobile friend-finder application a couple weeks back? Despite all the negative press, more than a million consumers signed up during the first week it was available, Google VP of engineering Vic Gundotra told a crowd at Mobile World Congress.
Gundotra reportedly used the location-based app as an example of a new breed made possible by browsers and software designed to take advantage of the powerful technology in all those advanced handsets coming to market, FierceMobileContent reports.
