Google Has Blocked AllCast, a Chromecast App That Lets You Stream Videos

Google has disabled the video playback feature of the ChromeCast app AllCast, a tool that lets consumers stream their personal collection of videos. Google’s ChromeCast remote control system only supports streaming for content purchased from the Google Play store, Netflix, and YouTube.

Koushik Dutta of ClockworkMod, the company that makes the app, explained the news on his Google+ page calling the move intentional. He writes:

The policy seems to be a heavy handed approach, where only approved content will be played through the device.
