Google Announces Editing Platform For The iPad

This morning Google announced a new cloud based editing platform for mobile editing in Google Docs on Android and the iPad.

David Girouard, President, Google Enterprise, blogged: “…today we demonstrated new mobile editing capabilities for Google Docs on the Android platform and the iPad. In the next few weeks, co-workers around the world will soon be able to co-edit files simultaneously from an even wider array of devices.”

While you can currently use your iPad to edit documents in the cloud, Mashable points out that the new tools will make it easier for Google users. From the piece: “Currently, third-party apps like QuickOffice let you edit your Google Docs files. This works really well, especially on the iPad, but for many users a native Google Docs editing component will be greatly appreciated.”
