A Palestinian man was arrested and suspected of “insulting the divine essence” after creating several Facebook groups declaring himself “God” and criticizing the Islamic faith.

Walid Husayin, 26, of Qalqilya, was known locally as a quiet man who worked evenings in his father’s barbershop and spent every Friday praying with his family.

But now, the conservative town of Qalqilya is calling out for the execution of their fellow resident according to the AP:

“He should be burned to death,” said Abdul-Latif Dahoud, a 35-year-old Qalqilya resident.
