David Zucker, chief marketing officer at luxury online retailer Gilt Groupe, is leaving his current position and will be replaced by company co-founder Alexis Maybank. He will have no further role at the company, according to Jennifer Miller, Gilt’s vice president of corporate communications, who confirmed the news.
Zucker, who had been splitting his time between Gilt’s offices in New York and his family home in Austin, Texas, joined the company in November 2009 as vice president of customer marketing and was promoted to CMO in December 2010.
Maybank, Gilt Groupe’s founding CEO, serves as president of premium products and services.
Since its launch in 2007, Gilt Groupe has grown to 3.5 million members. In May, Zucker told Direct Marketing News that he expected revenue for 2011 to pass $400 million and said that the company's referral-based marketing approach converted members to customers 50 percent faster than any of its paid advertising.
