The Tribez developer Game Insight has announced The Running Shadow, its upcoming mobile game that looks to combine the worlds of endless runners with deep RPG gameplay. The game throws players into the world of Adrion as a member of the mysterious Brotherhood of Shadows, a secret clan that works to complete heists and steal relics via the use of parkour-style moves.
Game Insight says the goal with The Running Shadow is to combine the “easy-to-learn, pick-up-and-play” style of endless runners with a role-playing system, 3D combat, and an in-depth storyline. Players will meet over 20 characters throughout that story, and will explore a variety of indoor and outdoor corridors, some light and airy, some dark and gothic.
From early screenshots, we see the game resembles other endless runners, including Temple Run and Subway Surfers. The board looks to be split into tracks, filled with random assortments of coins and obstacles, and players must navigate these tracks to collect items. A health system seems to indicate that players will be allowed to take some damage before actually failing.
The Running Shadow is set to release on Android platforms in 2014. The game will be expanded to iOS and other platforms later on.
Game Insight’s catalog continues to expand both on Facebook and mobile. The developer will launch Tank Domination on iPad later this year, for instance, and has found recent success on Facebook after the soft-launch of Sunshine Bay on the platform.
