FX is getting in the ring with Myspace to promote Lights Out, a series about an aging former heavyweight boxing champion who struggles to find his identity and support his wife and three daughters after retiring from the ring, which will debut on the cable network in January.
The social-networking and entertainment site debuted FX’s Lights Out Game, in which players get in the ring with title character Patrick “Lights” Leary and compete for $1,000 weekly grand prizes or $500 runner-up awards.
Angie Cerezo has more details on the Myspace Blog:
This exciting promotion with FX continues to support our emphasis on social entertainment by providing exclusive access to great content for fans. Through Myspace and our added social layer, users will be able to interact with other players while playing the Lights Out game and share their experience across all of their networks. We’re especially looking forward to bringing this to Myspacers, because they love games! In a single day, more than1.6 million users spend 18 million minutes playing more than 19,000 games and applications on Myspace. Our mission around social entertainment gives us renewed focus when we think about what products we want to built, what content we want to feature and what deals we want to sign. Teaming up with FX for the Lights Out game is a natural fit as we aim to amplify the fan experience and encourage deeper connections within our site.
