Fox Is Backing Empire, The Mick and Ghosted With Twitter Livestreams

The first episode of Ghosted will debut on Twitter before airing on Fox

Fox is tapping into livestreaming on Twitter to help promote returning series Empire and The Mick, as well as newcomer Ghosted.

Fox will debut a premiere episode on Twitter for the first time ever when it presents the first episode of Ghosted on @GhostedonFOX each night Thursday, Sept. 21, through Sunday, Sept. 24, at 9 p.m. The show’s on-air debut is Oct. 1.

Empire will air on Fox Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET starting Sept. 20, and Fox will livestream an Empire preshow on Twitter at @EmpireFOX at 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday, featuring cast members, guest stars, journalists and influencers.

And Tuesday night, star Kaitlin Olson’s five favorite episodes of The Mick were streamed on @TheMickFOX.

The Empire preshow will be available worldwide, while the Ghosted premiere is only available to Twitter users in the U.S.

Twitter global head of live video business Todd Swidler said in a release announcing the initiatives, “Fox programs and talent regularly engage fans and drive conversation on our platform. We’re excited to partner with Fox to bring TV viewing and conversation even closer together. The discussion of TV shows has always taken place on Twitter, and it is a natural evolution to add TV premieres and live preshows to our video experience.”

Fox Television Group chief marketing officer Shannon Ryan added, “With so much competition out there, it’s more important than ever to create innovative ways to promote our shows and connect directly to our viewers. From introducing new fans to Ghosted, to creating a catch-up opportunity with The Mick marathon, to building fan conversation for Empire with the live preshow, this exciting partnership with Twitter allows us to tailor each initiative for every show.”
