Foursquare, Focusing on Growth, Exceeds Four Million Users

Foursquare chief executive Dennis Crowley told Bloomberg News that its user tally exceeds four million, up from 170,000 in 2009. Four million is a good number, but, according to a recent Pew Research Center study, use of location-based apps remains low and “fit the profile of the early adopter.”

The company will continue to focus on growing that number for now rather than turning its attention to sales, according to Crowley. The story goes on to say that the company is adding “about 20,000 new users a day” and plans to make staff additions because of the growth.
