Here’s something you don’t see…well…pretty much ever. An active professional athlete coming out in full-fledged support of gay rights. Former LA Kings player Sean Avery, who still spends his offseason in LA after shipping out to the New York Rangers, has signed on to the marriage equality media campaign in New York.

Of all the professional sports you’d expect a player to get involved in the fight for gay marriage, hockey would seem to be near the bottom of the list.
