Consolidation struck the social shopping sector, as 8thBridge, a provider of social discovery, curation, analytics, and marketing solutions for retailers, announced that it was acquired by digital shopping software and services company Fluid.

8thBridge Founder and CEO Wade Gerten said in a blog post announcing the deal, “All of us at 8thBridge are excited to be joining the Fluid team,” and neither the blog post nor the press release announcing the acquisition mentioned any staffing reductions.

Fluid said in the release:

By adding 8thBridge’s technology and capabilities, Fluid will now offer the most comprehensive suite of software solutions for empowering brands and retailers to deliver engaging digital shopping experiences to their customers, supported by an integrated social analytics platform.
