First Lady Michelle Obama Joins Upworthy as Guest Curator

Michelle ObamaThe White House announced today that First Lady Michelle Obama has joined Upworthy as a guest curator. Her participation aligns with her Reach Higher program, encouraging students to “Complete your education. Own your future.”

In her first post, Obama writes about her arrival to college and settling in. She goes on to introduce a video highlighting first-generation college students at Kansas State University pursuing careers in education.

“As a country, we’re missing out on too much potential because too often young people don’t believe that college can be a reality for them – or they don’t know the steps to take to prepare themselves for higher education,” writes Obama. “So it’s up to all of us to make sure we’re helping our young people reach higher and take charge of their futures.”

Obama joins “Star Trek” actor George Takei as an Upworthy guest curator.
